5 Different Aspects of Wooden Wine Boxes

Wooden wine boxes are an excellent choice for wine packaging because they are created from a renewable resource, so they are a much more sustainable choice than some other types of packaging. Wooden wine boxes can also be reused for other purposes, or refurbished for use with another batch.

They also create very little waste. One other awesome benefit of wooden wine boxes is that they are also highly customizable, so customers are able to create wine packaging that fits their brand, their needs, and their preferences.

1. Material

Customers are able to choose the type of wood they would like their personalized wooden wine boxes made out of. Some popular types of wood are flex veneer, red pine, or birch ply, but wine boxes can be made out of virtually any type of wood or wood veneer. Different materials have different abilities. For instance, wood veneer is a more malleable material, which allows for a wider variety of shapes that can be made, while a more solid wood would require the box to be a more traditional square or rectangular shape.

2. Shape and size

Wine boxes can be made to fit just one bottle of wine, or multiple bottles of wine. They can be rounded or rectangular. They can also be shaped like treasure chests, ovals, or squares. They can be made custom sized to fit abnormal bottle sizes, or in the traditional size for traditionally sized bottles. Basically, anything about the size and shape of the box can be customized, however the shape may depend on the material being used, as not all types of wood will lend themselves to all box shapes.

3. Lid type

There are multiple varieties of lids available as well. Lids can be hinged, and may or may not latch. Customers cay also choose a sliding lid, which slides in through a slit in the wood. Another option is a simple lid that is not attached and simply drops into place in the box. If a veneer is used, the wooden wine box may also have a feature that acts more as a folding flap rather than a lid. Some lids are more conducive to a certain shape of box, and may not necessarily work for other shapes.

4. Added features

Custom wooden wine boxes may also include added features which could improve both the aesthetic and functionality of the box. For instance, in a wine box that is intended to hold multiple bottles of wine, walls can be added in order to provide extra protection to the glass. Alternatively, decorative features could be added to the outside of the box to add to its look. These would be things like ropes and bows. In addition, the wood could be stained as per the customer’s preference.

5. Branding/personalizing

The final touch is to make it your own. Wooden boxes can be personalized through engraving or stamping. The branding or personalization of the box is the last detail to be added, but is the most crucial in making it completely unique to you. Both the engraving and the stamping methods of branding allow for fine details to be transferred onto the box, and are both permanent and difficult to damage unlike a paper label or a stick-on decal.

Because wooden wine boxes are so often used for additional purposes after their primary function of transporting wine due to their sturdiness and adaptability for other purposes, such as décor in a home or for carrying other items, any branding that is done on the box will provide free advertising for its contents and the company who made them.
